Alix (Landais) Timothy

Alix is an Investment Manager specialised in Special Situations at British International Investment (BII), the UK Development Finance Institution. Under this capacity, she is responsible for the management of distressed investments across BII’s Private Equity and Private Debt portfolios in Africa and South Asia, working closely with Boards, Executive teams, Investors, and Government representatives.
An award-winning professional bringing 10+ years’ experience in Impact Investing across Private Equity, Private Debt, Venture Capital, and Grants Management, Alix has working and living experience across Africa, Latin and North America, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
She was previously a Senior Manager at Adam Smith International responsible for the strategic execution of a multi-million pounds private sector development programme in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Alix holds a Master in Management with major in Corporate Finance from Neoma Business School (France) and studied International Management at the FGV-EAESP (Brazil). She is currently a CFA Level III candidate.
A passionate promoter of Africa and diversity and inclusion, Alix has served as a columnist for the pan-African think-tank L’Afrique des Idées, a co-Chair of BII’s Africa affinity employee network Umoja Works, and currently a mentor and moderator for the UK’s asset management industry race and ethnicity initiatives EnCircle and City Hive Cross-Company Mentoring Scheme. She is enrolled in the Investment Association’s Black Leaders Programme.
